"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" Matthew 16.26
If you try to gain the world, your soul can only take delight in this until you are about 70, or maybe even 80, if you still have the strength. However, most of these years will be of tiresome work and grief, because everything passes quickly.
But what happens when your physical body dies?
What will happen to your soul?
The wise man does not invest his faith in a life with limits.
On the contrary, he gains by investing his wisdom, vision and faith into his eternal life.
"For what will it profit a man if gains the whole world and loses his own soul?"Mark 8.36
Winning the lottery along with other people is difficult. Winning the lottery by yourself is even more difficult. Now, winning the world, humanly speaking, is impossible. But even if it were possible, what good would it be when you would only enjoy it for about 100 years?
Jesus suggests we gain eternal salvation.
Who is willing to pay the price?
Who is willing to sacrifice their sad, poor little world for the salvation of their soul for all of eternity?
"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts." Zechariah 4.6
When a Christian freely surrenders his life over to God and sacrifices his will daily to remain in the faith, he is given the power to win all of his battles by the Spirit of the Lord Jesus.
