The sheep

"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." John 10.27

What characterizes the relationship between shepherd and sheep is the shepherd's voice. No sheep from a certain flock follows the voice of a shepherd of another flock.
It was common that several shepherds would gather their respective flocks to drink from the same stream. But once their thirst was quenched, each sheep would follow the voice of their respective pastors.
The followers of the Good Shepherd, hear His voice and follow Him. That is, obey.

Who wants to drink?

“The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them." Isaiah 41.17
The faith that pleases God is the certainty that He will do what He promised and taking action. Unfortunately, most Christians have not seen the manifestation of God's power because they expect to "feel the faith" and only then take action. That is, they want to see in order to believe. So, they cannot take possession of the Biblical promises.
The ancient heroes of faith believedacted out on their belief and then saw the fulfillment of God's Word.

ACQUIRING FEAR

"Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord."    Psalm 34.11
Those who thirst listen to the Word of God.
And through His Word, those who are born again will understand it and practice it with fear of the Lord.

Thirsty

"O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water." Psalm 63:1

Life becomes precious and meaningful when we know and experience God's forgiveness. From then on, it's impossible to stay away from His counsel and presence.

Thirst

"If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink."

John 7.37

Many people have come to the Lord Jesus with the thirst to get the solution of their personal problems. But the thirst for Him in this passage refers to the permanent Plenitude of the Holy Spirit. Many people want Him but they show lack of thirst. The Plenitude of the Holy Spirit is only for those who are desperately thirsty of Him.
