"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Proverbs 1.7
When the fear of God is absent from someone's life, the spirit of sin will dominate even the strongest man. With him come suffering, followed by death. These people's daily bread have shortened their days.
But the wise man prolongs his days by practicing the words that come from the mouth of God.
"The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death." Proverbs 14.27
Where there is fear of the Lord, there is justice, true love, faith and abundance of life. But in the absence of the fear of the Lord, the spirit of sin triumphs.
Those who are wise fear the Lord, run from sin and live according to the teachings of the Divine.
"Let your garments always be white and let your head lack no oil."
Ecclesiastes 9.8
It is difficult to live in a world that is so entangled in sin and yet maintain your garments white. However, it is not impossible. The secret behind maintaining yourself pure in an impure world is fearing the Lord and obeying His voice. The more sinful you are, the more effective God's power is.
The Almighty never asks for something that is impossible to do.
"I, even I, am the Lord and besides Me there is no Savior." Isaiah 43:11
Jesus is only Lord to those who serve Him. He is only a Savior to those who consider themselves lost. Many consider Him their Lord and Savior, yet they do not serve Him and much less think they were lost. This is why they have led a life of poor quality, even though they believe.
"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts." Zechariah 4.6
When a Christian freely surrenders his life over to God and sacrifices his will daily to remain in the faith, he is given the power to win all of his battles by the Spirit of the Lord Jesus.
"The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10.10
The Lord Jesus gives us two clear alternatives in this verse: Good and evil. Everyone must choose one. The world has witnessed evil's actions because they have turned their back on Good. But those who learn the Word of God and obey it, will surely reap it's fruit in abundance.
"Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." Hebrews 12.1
The great cloud of witnesses has been proof that the Lord takes care of His people. Unfortunately, not everyone has truly believed. And among those who have believed, there are those who insist on carrying the weight of their past instead of fighting against the sins of the present. My advice is: immediately get rid of all those burdens and move forward.
