A Good Conscience

"...keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith." 1 Timothy 1:19

Many have overlooked a good conscience; however, without it, it is impossible to maintain the Christian faith. The bad examples of ex Christians who have failed are evident everywhere. There are so many because they neglected to have a good conscience. The Apostle Paul faced this problem in his ministry: people who once lived by faith but due to their lack of care for their good conscience, they eventually lost their faith.

The victory doesn't belong to those who start in the faith but rather they that stay until the end. The devil works hard to damage the faith of those who are sincere, so it is our duty to defend it using the weapons available to us through the Word of God.

  1. Mrs Ester,
This message really touched me, especially the part about failing Christians. It made me realise how I have to keep my conscience pure and in good working order or I too will shipwreck. Sometimes, the longer we are "in the faith" the more we take for granted and sometimes assume that we are in faith when we are not. We can get caught up with life, what people are doing (or not doing), offences, injestices...and neglect the importance of keeping our consciences clean. How dangerous! I don't want my conscience to be damaged. I don't want the little foxes to spoil my grapes! (Song of Solomon 2:15).

  2. Hi Mrs. Ester

All good comes from God to include a good conscience. In order for a conscience to be good it must not be an offense toward God or toward men. Ideally, for a person's conscience to be good it needs to be based on faith and love. A good conscience is of no use unless it is acted upon in our daily lives. The secret to happiness and joy in our lives is to act on our good conscience.

  3. Hello Mrs. Ester,

Having a good conscience is one of the qualities that christian must have. Clean and pure conscience free from sin. What is the essence of having a faith but your conscience is sinful and not clean? If this things happened you will end up as a failure christian and i myself i always pray that this things will not happened to me. That i want my conscience be free from anything bad.
