"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 5: 3
Humbleness of spirit deals with submission, servitude, and practice of the will of God. The Kingdom of God is made of people whose character is as such.
A person that is poor in spirit, is always at the Jesus feet, because he/she has consciousness that without God we are nothing. And because we first submit ourselves to God, we have no difficulties to submit to any other authorities raised by Him.
The word servitude strikes the most for me. It is easier to serve when it is convenient, or when it agrees with our personal beliefs but real servitude is unconditional. And when we are able to do it we are really showing humbleness in spirit and we please God.
This has helped me to realize even more, that humbleness draws me closer to Him, but pride seperates me away from Him. If we say we have the Holy Spirit we must also have the nature and characteristics that our Lord Jesus, Himself had. But when we don’t, we do not understand the meaning to serve, to be a servant or to even accept our wrong doings, because we have not yet experienced the new birth or been baptized with the Holy Spirit Himself. So much so, we cannot even enter heaven because, the kingdom of God has been made for only those with that character! We need to examine ourselves and see whether we’ve been distancing our self from God or have we been drawing closer to Him daily as we seek Him, pray, read our bibles, save souls etc.
Before i gave my life to God i always thought being humble was a sign of weakness so i never thought being humble was a good thing and because of not being humble i went through lots of things, but now i understand being humble takes courage and strength which for me is beautiful ..
Hi Mrs. Ester!
ReplyDeleteThis is true!
When someone, exalted himself, he will be humbled. But when someone humbled himself, he will be exalted.
The only way for someone who is humble is the way up.
Thanks for this post!
