"And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit..." Acts 6.5
The election of Stephen required that he'd be filled with faith and the Holy Spirit. In other words, it's not enough for us to have faith to move mountains, we also need to be filled with the Spirit of God.
Its so true we do need the holy spirit because some times its requires god strength and guidance. Stephen was chosen by faith but because he had the holy spirit and was full of it, It wasn't limited. It made me think that god said he was FULL! The one made me think that he wasn't half or quarter. But he had the fullness of god. And that's want god wants those who have full faith not quarter or half but full. Having the holyspirit made me think that he had all of god not half. so we should desire more of him to the fullness
ReplyDeleteRecently all of the messages from the Holy Spirit is that we must regonize how imporatnt He is, because without him we can do nothing, we are no one without Him. This example of Stephen emaphasies that the Holy Spirit is the one how calls God'sservants by name, on condition that He is within them.

ReplyDeleteIt is true that in order for a person to start doing the work of God that person needs to know the Owner of the work i.e. God. A person cannot serve someone of which he does not know this is impossible. A person needs faith and the spirit of God in order to do His work, for by our own strength we cannot make it. serving God requires daily sacrifice if a person is not born of the Spirit that person we go weary and give up doing the work of God and to him/her the work will become a burden. We need Hoy spirit to guide us and teach us ways in serving Him the proper way if we do not have His spirit we will be lost and lack the strength to carry on serving Him
Thank you Mrs Ester, this passage has revealed to me that we need to keep fighting seeking and showing God that we want to be filled with his spirit this relates to me as it is something I'm learning every day. We need to continuously ask God for his direction, guidance and strength especially with the choices we make.

ReplyDeleteThe Holy Spirit is essential for us who want to be used by God. It is not something we can choose to have or not because without the Holy Spirit we are nothing. So faith is not enough alone,it has to be accompanied by The Holy Spirit. Thank you
This for me is true and kind of links in with a comment made in service yesterday in relation to the Holy Spirit, which was that without the Holy Spirit we can still achieve and conquer our blessings. However it is only with the Holy Spirit that we can not only move mountains but we can have wider vision than our own flesh allows us to have, as it is only with the Holy Spirit that we can truly know our purpose in life and have the drive, strength and determination to go for it and achieve it. Also, it is only with the Holy Spirit that we can truly be fulfilled
ReplyDeleteWhen the person does not have the Holy Spirit she may even conquer something but all she is conquering passenger. But when the person has the Holy Spirit, her vision is not only conquer but also to establish.

ReplyDeleteThis passage has taught me that we can do many things with our life because everybody has faith! All we need to do is just look at the people in the world who have created for themselves a wealthy empire, they used their faith and I very much doubt they allowed God first in their decisions. However, when we have the Spirit of God within us, yes we can conquer anything, but our faith won't be shaken and we will never be down because the Holy Spirit is with us as we can to anything!!
ReplyDeleteThe Holy Spirit is so important to have because its this spirit that helps you endure until the end. Faith is good to have also but you have ability to use faith but it's not all the time you we use this faith and you have only faith at any time this faith can waver and then what? we need to have faith yes because it's faith when used pleases God but we most assured need the Holy Spirit.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you that it is unworthy to have faith moving mountains and not having the spirit of God becuase you can move mountains like healing, casting out demons without the Holy Spirit it is totally unworthy. thank you
This post just shows the IMPORTANCE of realling being filled with the HolySpirit and just because one can perform miracles it does not mean that they are filled with the HolySpirit, but the HolySpirit is clearly SO important. Reminds me of when Jesus said, not all those who say Lord, Lord would enter the Kingdom. strong

ReplyDeleteThis verse is very strong because Stephen was chosen to do something so little however he needed to have the Holy Spirit and he needed to have faith. However many people nowadays think that they can live without having a relationship with God or without the Holy Spirit while in fact we need His guidance even if its to do something soo small that no one will notice but it just shows that we need God to guide our life's and not our intentions and desires.
The Holy Spirit is the most essential thing that we need. It's not only the fact that without Himwe are not His, but also that He is our helper and we spiritually cannot live without Him.
