Wrong Path

"Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them..." Deuteronomy 11:16
If we don't watch in order to protect our heart, we'll eventually be taken by this world's fascination, and with that, we'll grow cold in our faith, and eventually be distant from the Kindgom of God.

    That is why God also taught us to watch and pray so that we may not be deceived but stand firm in our faith.
    This world has nothing to offer, satan will offer us what we already have. Just like he deceived Adam, he will also deceive us. Adam didn't see that he had everything and satan was offering him what he already have. Unfortunately it was too late to go back for him.
    On our side we have everything and know the truth, meaning that we have all the tools that are required to protect our faith. We only get deceived if we allow to.

    This is true because if we don't constantly watch and pray we will one day fall into the trap of the devil and lose our salvation.

    This message has helped me realise so many things. One thing i learnt is that a way for me to keep myself clean, to keep my spiritual like intact and this is by protecting our heart, we can do this by keeping it clean from the things of the world, from being around the wrong crowd etc. If we dont protect our heart and if we are unable keep it clean it is because somehow the things of the world has become a fascination within our eyes. Once we have allowed that our heart gets cold towards Gpd and this is what makes it hard to return back to our 'First Love'. All of this leads to us being distant from the kingdom of God. And what God showed to me is that, that whole situation could be prevented from happening if we decide to protect and keep our heart clean at all times. This happens once we ask God to help us.

    yeah, it is extremely necessary to watch and examine ourselves constantly; the thoughts of our minds and heart.
    Something that calls my attention is that it will never happen overnight, no one will ever wake up one day and decide to serve another god (whether it's money, friends, ourselves etc)....but rather it's a consequence of not constantly being alert and in so doing the heart becomes deceived and once deception sets in then its all the more easier to become distant from God and cold in ones faith.

    Mrs Esther so true if we concentrate more on GOD then we dont have to worrie if our heart loves the world,But we have to be checking side to side of the atacks of the devil.devil wants to frozen our faith and lose our salvation.I will apply it to my life.Thank you for the post

    Wee have to guard our heart because we can be deceived by our own heart and end up losing the Kingdom of God, it is important that we always be alert so as to protect our salvation. Maintaining our salvation is difficult so we need to take care of our heart so that satan won't find a gap to separate us from the Lord Jesus. Thank you...

    This is what we truly see everyday Mrs Ester, those who were once in the fight with giving to what this world has to offer. Our heart is dangerous because it is very 'deceiving' as you said and this is the reason why we must 'Watch and Pray'

    Truly this world has nothing to offer us but destruction to those who are led astray by it. I cannot stress how important it is to always watch... watch... watch and pray. Watch what we do and say and where we choose to be and with who. There is nothing more important than salvation because its where true life is. I pray that God helps us realise the blessing He has given us so that we are not led astray.

    And what we have the most lately is the offering of other gods. Technology is becoming an idol to many who cannot go a day without spending hours in chat rooms. Others prefer to make of their self image their own god. The Holy Spirt teaches us to be balanced in all and specially amongst the youth, one lesson to learn is to know to seize time instead of spending hours unworthily feeding oneself with knowledge, information that will play the role of God in our life. Those who trust self knowledge are, in other words, placing God in second place.

    We have to be careful with our heart and soul. Because if not the devil can manipulate us, to the point that we can get distant from God and lose our salvation.

    its important that everyday we watch and pray because for one to take the wrong path does not come in a day but step by step for example, i dnt feel like reading my bible today will do it tomorrow then slowly but surely they start depending on their own strength. eventually they start looking around and see what the world has to offer

    when your in faith we most be very careful about things..like praying and reading our bible at lest once a day because our flesh is constantly there wanting us to do things to please it, eventually you will not even want to go to the the church, and be an slave to your flesh. YOU ARE YOUR WORST ENEMY.

    The Bible says: "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of live." because of that we should don't be enchanted with things of this world, because what the devil wants is to make us to put our heart on things that he presents us and so deviate us from God's presence.

    This verse reminds me that we must always be watchful, no matter where we are or what we are doing. Because the devil is always trying to find ways to knock us down, or to bring something in our way to distract us and turn our attention away from what God wants for us.
    We shouldn't even give the devil a chance, because he will use our hearts especially to deceive us.
