Shunning evil

"There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil." Job 1.1

Three characteristics of those born of the Spirit: they are honest and upright, they fear God and they shun evil.
Honesty and uprightness are related to our conduct towards other people. The fear of God relates to our conduct towards the Lord or the practice of His Word. The rejection of evil has to do with our conscience, when we avoid places and situations that have nothing to do with faith.

  1. Hello Mrs Esther,
Through this I understand that our actions shows who we really are and where we stand with God, we can say we fear Him, whilst our actions show mockery.
    With Love

  2. Job was a man just like anyone of us. We can all live an upright life like Job as long as we have the Spirit of God in us and seek to please him in everything we do. Thanks for this teaching mum.

  3. Those who are born of God find no pleasure in doing evil as evil has no part with God. Though we are human beings and of a sinful nature, we may make mistakes, but if we have the Spirit of God within us, we will never purposely do evil. There are those who are not born of God, but fear Him and try to keep away from evil, but it's the Spirit of God that keeps us constantly shunning evil.

  4. Job is one of my favourite books of the Bible! With Job there was no middle-line- He was of God and with God even through the hardest times of his life.
Job knew God personally and because of this he did not abandon his faith.

This is why it is so important to be born of God...I want to have my faith preserved until the end and I welcome these 21 days we are in so much. Already God has revealed to me to invest more in my faith by being more watchful with my life and staying away from what might damage it.

  5. Mrs Bezerra, thank you so much for breaking down and explaing each quality Job had. Everytime I read that passage I thought He seem a bit of a super human and taht make it really hard to acquire those qualities. But with he make down I have come to understand what God meant when He attributed Job those qualities. It is all about making choices; keeping God constantly in mind then you will be able to keep watch and do what pleases Him. it means living cleanso the Spirit of God will come and live in you, always teaching and guiding you.

  6. This is so true thank you for sharing.
Job indeed is a strong book in the bible and very well explained.
Something so special about Job was that him and God were closed and trusted 100% in him no matter the situation.
Thats the importance of our relationship with God we must have a strong bond to always realyng on him and no one else.
The same with our actions and the characteristics of his spirit must be in us.
    God Bless You

  7. Dear Mrs Esther,

Thank you for breaking this down, it is very important to show that God is working with us in every area of our life because then it is clear to see that we are on our way to bocome children of God. How we treat people is important because as christians we represent God, putting into practice God's word is vital that we are obeying him and that we actually understand what he's telling us to do and not being drawn into to things that do not have anything to do with him or us.
I was recently at a place in a situation where I had to look at someone different and it made me realise if I should of rally been there, I left straight away the words I passed onto a friend I know made him think because he also left 5/10 min before me not looking too pleased but he got the message or he wouldn't of left.
We have to show our strength in God's word rebuke and help others who are at times weak and that is one of the spirit of God to shun evil and stand firm in our faith.

Thank you Mrs Esther Big kisses

  8. Thank you Mrs Esther for this message. Job is a great example of the characteristics we need to have to show God to others. Without His Spirit, we truly can't do any of the above.

  11. When we fear the Lord we conduct ourselves in a Christ like manner even when no one is watching us. We want to please him at all times and our actions is a true reflection to what our character truly is.

Thank you for this message Mrs Ester.
