To trust vs. To believe

"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7.38
When you believe in Jesus according to the Scripture, the Holy Spirit must flow. If the Holy Spirit is not flowing, it is because there is no trust, but mere belief.
Believing is like the dating period where there is no commitment from either party. But trust relates to marriage, where both parties commit themselves to one another for the rest of their lives.
Most Christians think they trust when in reality they simply believe.

  2. Thank you for this Mrs Ester. A month ago I realised that though I thought I trusted God, I didn't in many things. I simply believed, but then when a situation happened leaving me with on one to turn to, in tears I simply sat there with the Holy Spirit asking me "Are you going to trust Me?" I am happy to say that my answer was and is "Yes I will".

  3. Wow I can clearly see the difference in your explanation Mrs Esther. This is so true and I have learnt something new today. Some Christians do mix up the two and think that they are doing fine by just believing. I have to make sure that I don't make that mistake.

  4. Good afternoon Dear Ester,
I trust God, that is it. No body gives anything for free. Only your one true love does this, unconditional love, even that has conditions because it can only work with conditions but the love is infallible, it that is what it is. people, Never, no one ever gave me a reason to trust them, hot ,cold, give me take it back, friend, satan, helper, pedophile.
praise and heartbreak, nothing else Ester, always the same, no one helps, unless what ever no one loves like my Lord Jesus. That is why i love Him,
No one can be truthful only very , very few in life, i did not meet many, just people who chop and change like weather or how they are influenced nothing certain, sturdy and holy.
Just rubbish, Ester all the time bad heart

  5. Hello Mrs.Ester,
    Thank you for the strong message;
To trust in God is to give our life 100% to Him,we fully commit ourselves to Him.we simply trusts God our future.
no worry,no doubt and no fear, when we trusts our life to God.
    Thank you Jesus!

  6. yes we need to always trust in God when times are hard sometimes we depend on people, instead of doing that we need to trust in God. It is easy for Christians to believe in God but can they really trust and throw their lives in his hands.

  7. Thank you Mrs Esther, This is what the Holy Spirit was showing me recently. Many times I have not trusted in God just believed and I realised that this is sin, how can I say i believe in God but not trust him with everything I doesn't make sense. And this is resorted to why my life hasn't been a living testimony of Gods promises and I used to wonder why, well this is why, no trust.

  8. Dear Mrs Ester

Thank you very much for this message. It has helped me a lot to see a clear difference in what it really means to trust and believe in God.
Many Christians find it easy to say they believe in The Lord Jesus, but then The Holy Spirit knows those who trust Him by the action that follows their belief.
He flows through those who He knows sincerely trust Him and enable them to do everything because they do not allow doubts, fears or any problem to impede them in their commitment with Him, always with the attitude of faith to do His will and to honour Him.

  9. Yes indeed. There is a huge difference between believing and trusting. The bible itself states that Satan Believes and trembles, but it doesn't stop him from being whom he is. Anyone could believe in something but the difference comes in when there's commitment to that one thing, to the trust, and how they follow that belief.
When times are hard is that we need to trust him more, forget about what others think and do. If we as Christians believe in him we automatically SHOULD trust him, ask for his direction and follow it.

  10. Hi Mrs Ester, thak you so much for this distinction. I see now that it is more important to trust than to just believe & that this trust will come through investing more in our spiritual lives and in our relationship with God.

  11. I have thought many times in my life that I trusted God only to realise later on, through my actions that this was not the case. Trust takes faith and that requires obedience. Looking at this verse this way shows me the reason behind many failures and mistakes of mine in the past. However, I'm looking forward now towards a prize and this verse helps me to see things in a clear way. This message also reminds me of that old hymn and why it says:

#Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey#

  12. Hi Mrs Ester,

To Trust God is to surrender your life in his hands. This is when you believe he will react to everything you ask for because you trust and believe in the only you are asking.
Its so simple when i read this scripture its so true many times we lack because of lack of trust.

  13. Hi Mrs Ester,
The example you gave it the most simple way to explain the difference, but yet so true. I have had situations in my life that I believed but did not trust because I still wanted to do it my way or deal with it. Also Trust for me is so simple we do or not do it is all to do with relying on Him and Him only.

    God Bless

  16. Dear Mrs Ester,

It is true many of us believe in God and have faith in Him however many times we fail to trust that He would certainly deliver us from with certain situations we face in life.

    Thank you.

  17. Dear Mrs Ester.
Thank you for this message. to say I believe is very easy, but to trust takes commitment, sincerity and obedience. This is what is required from me as a servant of God. For me to do the will of God, I must trust Him 100%.

Mrs. Ester that is so true I really love the example you use to describe, the verse, I never saw it that way. Our faith is not based on feelings is based on the words of God and this reminds me of that, and because of this there must be trust, because God is not a man to lie. This is verse makes me see the amounts of time I used to say I trusted Him but truly was not true. So indeed I must trust 100%

  20. wow, this message is really strong, it goes to show that the difference between believe and trust is very small so one can be mistaken for the other. However, those that really trust in God will know and those who merely believe will also know when they begin going through problems that will require them to trust. Thank you Mrs Ester for allowing God to use you to share with us this strong message, it has made me think allot.

  21. Dear Mrs Ester,

It's very powerful to know that when we trust in God and are filled with His Spirit everything is possible.
When we trust, we take action and God reacts.
Those who truley believe will act and make a difference whatever the circumstances.

    Thank you for this message.

  24. From this I understand that believing has reserves but trust is dependance, the Holy Spirit cannot flow if one is holding back. But where there is 100% surrender of our will God's will can be done.

The example is perfect for this. Dating can be stopped at any point but there is no going back with marriage, the way there shouldn't be any turning back with God.

  25. This message is so powerful.

It is easy for people to say that they believe but when they're going through tough circumstances it's the trust they have or don't have in the fact that God is truly with them, that will show how much they truly trust and believe in Him or not. This will also show a lot about their relationship with God.

This definitely is an eye opener and very helpful to improve our relationship with God.

    Thank you for this post.

  26. Reading this i see the clear difference between believing and trusting. Trust is 100% surrender to God, with no reserves or hesistation, something i see i have not always done but now i my time to change this and start trusting in God 100%.

  27. Its so easy for us to ay we trust God but it all shows when we are in moments that are very difficult and thats when our trust is put to the test. Its when we are faced with desperate moments that our trust is put to the test. This bible verse and message has enabled me to see at which level my trust in God truly is.

    Thank you mrs Esther

  28. Dear Mrs Ester,

We sometimes find ourselves saying that we believe in Jesus but there comes a time that saying that we believe in Him is not good enough. Jesus is more pleased in showing our belief by trusting Him, we need to go an extra mile by showing our belief through our trust in Him that He will give us the strength to overcome tribulations, challenges, persecutions, injustice and even victory when we most need it.

    God Bless!

  29. Trust is the foundation of a relationship with God without it He is unable to do His Will in us. Just like a marriage if there is no trust the marriage begins to fall apart and communication deterioates. When you trust God you share everything with Him, you become ONE.

  30. To really trust in God it means that you have totally surrendered onto him. There is no back up plan but assurance that God is with you and will be with you even during the most difficult situations.

Thank you for this message mrs Ester.
