"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6.14One of the secretes to keeping the faith is staying away from those who are not of the faith. Why share feelings and thoughts with people that are opposed to the thoughts of God? Why open up your heart and speak about your dreams and projects of faith with the children of Belial?

Thank you Mrs Ester for this message and it is so true that the light and the darkness have nothing in common. As I was reading this message I got to think and I agree with you that as children of God with cannot share our thoughts and feeling with the children of Belial

ReplyDeleteThis is something i have learnt a lot whilst attending the UCKG.
Many of my family members are not in church and do not share the same faith as me.
For that reason i guard myself and do not discuss my faith with them. As the word of God says: What communion has light with darkness" light and darkness cannot mix they will never work together. Children of God cannot and should not share their thoughts and views with the children of Belial.
With that in mind i think it is very important to distance ourselves from people who do not share the same faith as us.
The devil can use anyone even the ones closest to us our family to try and weaken our faith or to destroy it.
We must be watchful of the unbelievers around us no matter who they are. It only takes a moment for us to drop our guard and the devil will capitalise on this.

ReplyDeleteOne of the first thing that i learnt when i started in my faith, that i must come-out from those who are not in the same Spirit as i am. Sometmes we want to be accepted but the truth is bad company corrapt a good character.

ReplyDeleteSurely light and darkness cannot mix together, sharing our thoughts and views and projects with unbelievers is almost sharing our plans with the devil, I agree that to keep our faith pure and active we must not be yoked with unbelievers. Their thoughts and our thoughts are completely different. Thank you Mrs Ester I thought of this today before reading your post, surely God is confirming this to me.

ReplyDeleteThis is a message for me, but you are so right they do not understand anything of what we believe in or what God has promised. I spoke to a girl who said she would never go to church I told her God could change anyone but as she had no desire to change he probaly wouldnt bother. And as usual the question on everyones lips is you having a partner being of God and not being intimate. I told her she didnt know the power of my God the holy spirit takes away all desires they wouldnt even understand the blessing which comes with obeying God they seem to think no man can resist, its in his nature I had great pleasure in telling them the works of my father but no its no point explaining your faith when they do not even understand the spirit that dwells inside them. I dont miss anyone from the world if they dont want to hear what I have to say, I just pray for them underground and ask God to forgive them for they do not know what they do.

ReplyDeleteThere are times that children of God want to be accepted and loved by everyone. They don't want to "judge" or feel like they are offending their friends or family. But God is very clear in saying He wants us to have nothing to do with the unbeleiving. I've seen people of God trying to embrave people who are not in the same faith as them, thinking they're going to change them. But what happens is that they end up being corrupted by those people.
Bottom line is: faith is individual and one must never take chances with one's faith.
Dear Mrs. Esther, how true this is and we see often when it relates to love life. There are those who still believe that they can associate with a partner who does not have the same principles and values and who does not stand for the Lord of Israel. They hope that this relationship will work but it is a hope out of emotion and not faith. Faith must be intelligent to clear understand that there is no partnership between darkness and light.

This message is straight to the point Mrs Ester. Some of my closest friends are not in the church and to be honest every time we speak or see each other I feel accused because i know the word of God and know that i have no part with unbelievers. Whatever we seem to talk about is not something that benefits my faith it just idle talk and wasting of time in the name of fun. I know that to be of god is to die of the world so i know what I have to do no excuses. Rightly said Darkness and light don't mix and there is no in between you’re either of God or of the world.

very true,its two different people together,there is no gain in sharing your dreams with people of no faith,this just remind me last week when I received a call from an old friend that I use to work with years ago laughing at me,she said she has been told that I am studying and asked me why am I wasting my time studying? (you are too old for that) you need to work now and forget about education and I quickly remembered the word DO NOT ENTERTAIN THEM ,so I told her that I was very busy with my course work and I know where am going.
