Fear

"The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy." Psalm 147.11

The fear of the Lord has nothing to do with dread, fright or the like. Rather, it has to do with respect and obedience to His Word. And it's the Holy Spirit who does that.

  1. It took me a long while to really understand what this meant... God wanted me to fear Him, be scared of Him... Me and my mum had a terrible relationship and I really did fear her, so I didnt talk to her and let her know what was going on with me in the fear of letting her down... Then I learnt that the fear God wants me to have for Him is respect, respect to obey Him and even when I do slip up be able to go to Him and tell Him what's going on... One day I really thought I let God down and was so ashamed of myself and I had so many doubts and God just said you was never holding me up to ever let me down... And out of this Godlly fear, I didn't except myself to remain the same and changed for Him.
The fear for God is a fear that motivates and encourages and never puts down and that's what I learnt when I really did fear God

  2. I also thought that the fear of God was actually being scared of him because of what he could do to us if we done the wrong thing, but as I got to know and understand him more and I still have so much more to learn and know about him I found that he just wants me to respect, obey and trust in him and only him. Once we do that we are on the way to having him dwell inside of us, because we can not do anything with out him we have to have trust and confidence in his power.

  3. God doesn't want us to be afraid of Him. He wants us to live in obedience of His words and put our complete trust in him.

    God bless You always.

  4. I think a lot of people mistake the fear of God as being afraid of Him. When you think about it there is no need to be afraid of God but there is a need to show respect and obedience towards Him. When we really understand this we gain access to all His promises.

  5. I thought that fear was to 'be scared' of someone but that's not the real definition of fear. Fearing someone is to have respect for someone and to obey that person. Fear for God is to obey His word, do as He says and only the Holy Spirit allows to do and remain in this fear.

  6. When we fear God it show we do respect him just like we want our children those who have children to fear their parent but not be afraid of us, so just as we want respect from other God wants our respect towards him.

  7. Dear Mrs Ester. Thank you very much, the message is powerful, the fear of God is when we respect His word and comply with what He wants us to do ,I see this as like when giving tithes,we can't bring the tithes to the house of God to avoid the devour but we bring tithes to God because it is written and we do it with respect but not because we are scared. 9. To fear the Lord is being obedient to Gods word. God is so loving that he does not impose fear onto with terror but allows us to know him and develop the respect and love he deserves.
