Spirit of power

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1.7

Fear is a spirit that dwells in the minds of those who are distant from the Creator. However, this same spirit is empowering those who are possessed by it to do what is evil.
But the Spirit of God gives us power to overcome evil, love to love even our enemies and a sound mind, which means balance, not to be radical.

  1. Thanks for this post Mrs Ester, it has really made me to think when you said that "fear dwells in the mind of those who are distant from the creator", it is so true. The more we are close to Him the more we trust in Him. This links in with one of the messages that was passed on in our last Godllywood meeting which was really strong. We were told that when we go through trials & tribulations that the strength of our faith is evident in our reaction. If we are really close to God & our faith & relationship with God is strong, then we would have the courage to praise & thank God even in these moments because we know that He is in control & that He doesnt allow anything to happen that we would be harmed by or that we would not be able to overcome, but that through our testimony in overcoming, His name will be glorified & other souls that would go through this same situation or who are currently going through the same situation would draw strength from it & conquer. So through our experiences others are benefitted.

  2. For me having the spirit of a sound mind means to be at peace. Last week I can say that I had been battling with my thoughts because I was having a cup of tea with the devil. But as I determined this last week to give my all in the final days of the 21 days my mind has been at peace. That doesn't mean that silly thoughts haven't come. They have! But I have been able to throw that cup of tea over the devils head allowing my mind to be at peace.

  4. Very true Mrs Ester. When we have the Sprit of God and we are closer to him we don't fear but have the power to overcome anything that comes our way. Having the spirit of God is also to love those who offend us

  5. Mrs Ester, this is what stood out for me, "Fear is a spirit that dwells in the minds of those who are distant from the Creator" - because when we are close to Him our minds are filled by His thoughts and there is no room for doubts nor fear. Really the secret is to be close to God in order to over come all things.

  6. This verse clearly shows that FEAR does NOT come from God "for God has NOT given us a spirit of fear" when I first understood that fear was a spirit I was shocked but I came to understand that it was true as when you really think about the times you have allowed fear to rule you see that you did many things that were contrary to the Word and Will of God, this is what the spirit of fear does it, pushes you to do what is opposite to what God is saying, and its something we constantly have to fight.....thank you for sharing Mrs. Ester. xxx

  7. We can fear at all because once that happens that is when doubts come along. We need God power all the time because he allows us to be strong and fear will not come across our ways.

  8. I found this vers of the Bible really strong! When God gives us His Spirit, He also gives us the Autority above every evil and the abbility to love and do things that our own will and flesh could not do!

  9. Dear Mrs Ester

Thank you very much for this message.

God has made it so clear for us to understand in His Word that when we have His Spirit, we therefore have faith and a mind that is guided by Him, a sound mind, we are able to make correct decisions. We are able to recognise when the spirit of fear tries to take root in our mind because more often than not, fear is accompanied with emotions to work through us so that we can think negatively and make mistakes or give up.
Thank God for His Spirit within us so that we can have His love and power in us enabling us to do all things.

  10. Dear Mrs Esther,

The Spirit of God gives us the strength and courage to overcome in all areas of our life. No matter the obstacles, we have the assurance that we are not alone and we can succeed.

We learn to how to love our enemies because each soul is precious in Gods kingdom so we have to honour Gods will.

Thank you Mrs ester for this message.

  11. People often come to me asking, how can they overcome the fear they have inside. The answer is right here in this post. They will only be able to overcome it once they have the spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

  12. Dear Mrs Ester,

God gives us his spirit which then gives us strength to conquer in all the different areas of our lives.
With his spirit in us we know that we are not alone, and have the assurance that no matter what we go through in life he is with us.

The spirit of God enables us love are enemies and not hate them.

He's spirit gives us the love to save souls.

Thankyou for sharing this message with us.

  13. What you said is quite strong Mrs Ester, that there are those who are overcome by fear yet they have the power to do evil, as God has nothing to do with the evil what God does is revealed by converting this into the opposite, God gives us a spirit of boldness and power to turn away from evil and that is a remarkable thing.

  14. This verse is so strong I really like reading it. And it is as you said Mrs Esther the closer we're to God the more stronger we become because only when we are close to God we'll have the power to overcome anything.

  15. Mrs Esther

After reading this I was thinking about it and made some notes.
Fear that controls a person making the person incapable of doing things is not from Him, but the Fear of the Lord is one of respect which actually helps us to overcome many things. This is why His Spirit gives us the opposite.
